Transmission Development

Design-Tools
General
In the field of transmissions a competent team is at your disposal for the solution
of special transmission problems up to the adaptation of transmissions or design
modifications.
By involving the other GIF teams it is possible to cover all engineering disciplines such as:
- CAD / CAM
- CAE
- Component-, transmission- and powertrain tests
- Vehicle tests and
- All quality and documentation tools required for the project execution.

Design-Study
Technical Description
For example following main areas of cooperation result from the balance between
the close contact to the technical university of Aachen and the industrial experience:
- Solutions for special transmission problems by 'fresh eye' approaches
- 'Turnkey projects from a single source' utilising all related
engineering disciplines as required and
- Execution of development tasks to cover customer workload peaks.
A high project efficiency is achieved by the cooperation of the different GIF teams
by the utilisation of own workshops and test facilities.

Additional, tasks of the field 'Transmission Development' are:
- Solutions for noise and vibration problems
- Solutions for durability and fatigue problems
- Shift quality improvements
- Transmission efficiency improvements
- Assessments and improvements in the field of 'transmission in the total powertrain system'
- Support of the vehicle development relating to the integration 'transmission and powertrain'
- Studies and developments in the field of new concepts and materials
- Design changes and adaptations
- Component development incl. drawing and
- Drawing clearance in consideration of the customer's CAD-infrastructure.

Patents
During the long-time development of transmissions in the sectors manual,
automatic and double clutch GIF has applied for a multitude of patents.
A new example is described in the downloadable
patent application
(German language) which refers to the design of DCTs.
