Interfaces of the department Transmission Application

General

The Transmission Application team of GIF offers you support for all engineering and development problems and tasks especially for automatic transmissions. Our fields of activity are:

Development and construction of stepped automatic transmission or CVT (Type CRT) to customers requirements
Management of all development tasks for external customers
Testing and sign-off of existing transmissions
Layout and development of transmission electronic control units
Application of allocated components like shifter, cooling etc
Transmission calibration
Vehicle application

Technical Description

Special main tasks at the development at GIF are calibration and vehicle application of automatic transmissions. At these tasks we have year-long experiences with several customers.

For these activities some important development steps are listed below:

Transmission Calibration

Development and execution of work plans for calibration
Development of drive strategies according to customer requirements
Definition of shift schedules for all drive modes
On rig and vehicle transmission calibration
Preparation and execution of climate trips
On board diagnostics (OBD) development
Calibration sign-off and documentation

Vehicle Application

Communication and cooperation with Vehicle team
Installation of transmission and components into prototype vehicles
Development of transmission cooling and venting system
Functional and durability testing in vehicle
Release of A/T and all components and sign-off
Homologation testing and documentation
Organization and execution of fleet testing
