The car manufacturer's ambition is to explicitly reduce the development time for new models. An important time gain is the development and optimisation of partial vehicle systems on special test stands. In the past tuning could only take place after the prototypes were available. Today, due to the GIF NVH powertrain test bench, vibration of the total powertrain can be optimised in advance which additionally leads to another cost reduction since lesser prototypes need to be produced.
