On August 28th the new built Test Bench Building GIF VII and the enlarged Office Building IV have been ceremoniously inaugurated. To the opening ceremony numerous representatives of the press, the municipality and building enterprises have been welcomed.

With the enlargement of the capacities GIF will adapt itself to the order situation. Besides GIF the subsidiary company CALSIM - Gesellschaft für Simulationstechnik mbHe is involved in the utilisation of the new building. CALSIM is specialised in the development and the distribution of hot gas generators. In the new test bench building twelve new test benches are at GIF's and CALSIM's disposal. GIF increases the test bench capacity by three passenger car powertrain test benches for two- and four-wheel drive and three further test benches for HGV-transmission tests. Due to the high demands for tests and hot gas test benches CALSIM increases the number of own test benches as well as the test range.

GIF adds in total 20 new office and worker jobs as well as 18 new jobs at the test benches and CALSIM two new jobs in the domains design and test bench operation.

In total 5 million € have been invested including the operation features and the technical components. The Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Kreis Aachen mbH - in short WFG participates at the building as and public lessor. GIF and WFG are working together for more than ten years.
